Matt Milton was named to the job Thursday by Kyndryl Chief Executive Officer Martin Schroeter.
“We are guided by three principles – speed through simplification, effectiveness through integration, and innovation through agility,” Milton wrote in a LinkedIn post. “I am honored to join the Kyndryl leadership team and looking forward to bringing best-in-class technology services to our customers in the U.S.”
Milton currently is General Manager, Financial Services Market, for IBM Global Technology Services, Americas.
Kyndryl is likely to have a big presence in RTP where many employees of the to-be-spun-off Global Business Services group are based.

“Kyndryl will organize around our customers and ensure we are providing access to senior leadership and the best talent and skills in each market,” said Schroeter, a longtime IBM veteran who returned to the company to lead Kyndryl. “I am pleased that Matt will lead our team in the U.S., a key market for Kyndryl. He is an inspiring leader who is committed to helping our customers reach their peak digital performance and achieve their biggest ambitions.”
Milton “is responsible for partnering with financial industry organizations to leverage data, cloud, cognitive and security technologies to modernize and run critical infrastructure,” Kyndryl noted.
He already has nearly 20 years of experience at IBM.
“Supporting our customers’ technological transformations is a great responsibility because these are the vital systems that power human progress,” Milton said in the announcement. “I am thrilled to lead the world-class U.S. team for Kyndryl. Together we will partner with customers to address their toughest challenges and modernize and run their most essential infrastructure.”
Kyndryl will focus on running and managing technology infrastructure for cliants around the world. The spinoff is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
