RALEIGH – Red Hat CEO Paul Cormeir isn’t holding back when talking about the potential of next-generation 5G wireless which is quickly taking root around the globe.

“5G isn’t just changing everything,” Cormeir said Tuesday during Red Hat’s annual summit. “It’s a new foundation that’s going to create so many opportunities for our customers.”

And plenty of data is available for crunching, noted Intel executive Navin Shenoy.

“Only a small fraction of that data has been harnessed, analyzed and made valuable in any way,” Shenoy said in a panel discussion wth Cormeir. “The pandemic pushed businesses to virtual settings like we have here. It pushed consumers to engage more with online services for entertainment, communication. In many ways, I think we‘re in the golden age of data.”
