RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – Eleven North Carolina companies appear on the Inc. Best Workplaces 2021 list, released this week based on a measurement of American companies that specifically sought to identify the companies that created exceptional workplaces and company culture no matter the environment.

In total, 429 companies were named.

“The definition of a positive workplace has changed drastically over the past year,” said Scott Omelianuk, Inc. magazine editor-in-chief. “Stocked fridges and nap pods were no longer perks many companies could rely on once work went remote. So, this year’s list is even more important as it reveals organizations that continue to enrich the lives of its employees amid a pandemic.”

The North Carolina companies to make the list are:

“We’re very pleased to be ranked among some of the most respected companies,” said Elizabeth Claypoole, Chief People Officer at AgBiome, in a statement. “AgBiome’s founders knew exactly what type of company culture they wanted from the beginning. We’ve cultivated and maintained a unique commitment organizational structure and collaborative culture.”

Crossrope was also named to the “Editor’s List.”

Nine companies were named to the 2020 edition of the list, including Kevel, DemandZEN, Pendo, and Levvel.  This is the sixth year the company has published a “Best Workplaces” list.

“It was an incredibly difficult year for so many of our employees as they balanced the abrupt move to remote work along with health and safety concerns, family responsibilities and the emotions associated with racial violence and a heated election,” said Todd Olsen, CEO of Pendo. “We really had to rethink the way we support our colleagues—from providing various mental health days and resources to changing the way we onboard and communicate to increasing dialogue around diversity and inclusion, and even updating our core values.”

The company is “doubling down,” said Olsen, with plans to hire more than 400 new employees, investing in programs and initiatives to expand leadership and career development opportunities.
