DURHAM – The number of phishing attempts continues to increase, as more than 2 million new phishing websites were flagged by Google in 2020, roughly 46,000 every day, found a research team at Atlas VPN in November of last year.

With that backdrop, N-able (NYSE: SWI), which was formerly known as SolarWinds MSP, will integrate its cloud-based security solution with N-able™ N-central® and RMM in a collaboration with DNSFilter.

According to a statement issued by the company, the partnership will enable new embedded capabilities that will yield greater protection for the company’s clients against security threats like phishing, ransomware, and zero day social engineering attacks.

Cybersecurity insurance: what is it and does your company need it?

“We know that SMEs are key targets of malicious advertising, phishing, and other harmful sites through DNS-based cyberattacks, and this partnership allows us to provide our partners with a proactive approach to web protection,” said John Pagliuca, president, N-able in a statement. “High volumes of malicious websites are created every day, so the ability to classify and filter sites in real time is a must.”

The partnership will leverage technology built by both companies.  The DNSFilter technology relies on threat categorization that is powered by artificial intelligence and can detect threats as many as 80 hours earlier than other methods.  There’s been an increase in targeted attacks worldwide, said Ken Carnesi, the CEO of DNSFilter, in a statement.  “Adding an additional layer of protection through DNS filtering can mean the difference between a data breach that costs millions and everyone working safely without interruption,” he said.
