WRAL TechWire has been making weekly updates to our Triangle Startup Guide to keep content fresh and relevant as entrepreneurs are seeking new resources to help grow their businesses.
Recent updates include three new resources for businesses seeking relief and support during the COVID-19 pandemic, a new pitch competition for Black student founders, and a coworking/office space in downtown Raleigh.

COVID-19 Relief Resources for Small Businesses
We made three additions to our list of COVID-19 relief and support resources:
- We added some links to resources about the new iteration of the Payroll Protection Program (or PPP), which was signed into law in late-December. The new program includes more than $280 billion for PPP loans, in addition to other relief pathways for small businesses.
- We also added resources about North Carolina’s modified stay at home order, effective Dec. 11 through Jan. 8.
- We added Greenlight Durham, a free COVID-19 support program for businesses in Durham, providing streamlined testing, symptom-monitoring for employees, and access to COVID-19 relief payments and other services. The program was launched in partnership with the City and County of Durham and Duke Health.

Pitch Competitions
We added a new program to our list of local pitch competitions:
Pitch: A Competition for Black Student-Founders, a new program from Duke University and North Carolina Central University, invites student entrepreneurs and recent alumni to showcase their businesses. Participating entrepreneurs will present their startups and receive expert feedback from investors. Prize money will be awarded.
Applications are due on Jan. 29.

Incubators and Coworking Spaces
We also added downtown Raleigh’s Intelligent Office space to our map of local incubators and coworking spaces.
This space features 12 private offices, one temporary office, one medium conference room and one large conference room that services 170 businesses in the area, including attorneys, consultants, hair salons, electricians, plumbers, medical centers and craft people.
