HICKORY — CommScope, a global provider of wired and wireless networks technology, named John “Jack” Carlson as its new chief commercial officer, the company announced Tuesday.

Carlson joins CommScope from Sulliar, a global industrial air compressor manufacturer. He served as CEO and board chairman of the China-based IHI-Sullair joint venture. Before joining Sullair, Carlson held leadership positions at Southwire Company, Yale Security Group and Schneider Electric.

In his new role at CommScope, Carlson will globally lead the company’s direct and indirect sales and customer experience and marketing teams. He will also look after the company’s sales, marketing and growth strategy.

“With more than 40 years’ global leadership experience in industrial manufacturing, sales and distribution, and a proven track record of driving sales performance and profitability, Jack will help optimize our go-to-market strategy and accelerate top-line growth,” said CEO Chuck Treadway, who joined CommScope last month.

Carlson starts at CommScope on Nov. 16 and will be based out of Atlanta.

CommScope (COMM) was last trading near $9.90 on Tuesday, down 2.89 percent.
