DURHAM – Joan Siefert Rose is stepping aside as CEO of LaunchBio and will continue to work with the life science business organization as a strategic advisor for special projects.

Taking over as interim CEO is Becky Beattie, who has worked with LaunchBio since 2017 and worked with Rose to expand the firm’s operations.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with a first-class team, supportive board of directors, and enthusiastic community partners to nurture LaunchBio from its infancy to a national network supporting early stage life science entrepreneurs,” Rose says.

“It has been an honor to work toward our mission to build an ecosystem of innovation for the benefit of human health and well-being.”

Rose, a former CEO of the Council for Entrepreneurial Development, has led LaunchBio since 2016 when it launched.

“Becky joined the LaunchBio team in 2017 to host a series of educational lunch & learn programs at the newly opened BioLabs San Diego at Campus Point Drive,” Rose wrote in a blog post.

“She has since led the expansion of programs to San Francisco and Los Angeles; created the popular Explore Labs STEM education program for high school students in the San Diego Unified School District; and most recently assumed responsibility for LaunchBio’s move online as Director of National Programs.”
