HICKORY – CommScope has tapped Jeff White as its new chief commercial officer. The news comes as CommScope also scores a victory in patent litigation.

With 30-plus years experience in the industry, he will lead a team of more than 2,000 that includes direct and indirect sales, sales enablement and marketing.

CommScope is a provider of communications gear and services headquartered in Hickory. His tenure begins on June 1.

White joins CommScope from Here Technologies, a location services platform company, where he served as chief customer officer in Amsterdam and oversaw a complete go-to-market transformation.

He was also chief revenue officer for Syniverse and Extreme Networks and held several leadership roles with Cisco Systems including senior vice president/president of India – Bangalore.

“The roles of communication networks are more critical than ever,” said White, in a statement, “as we reimage what we need for the future.”

CommScope wins injunction

CommScope this week also said it has secured an injunction and enhanced damages against Dali Wireless.

The case involves five of CommScope’s digital distributed antenna system (DAS) patents.

“The Court ruled that Dali’s willful infringement warranted an injunction against the Dali infringing products for the life of CommScope’s asserted patents,” per its release.

“The life of the last-to-expire of CommScope’s asserted patents extends to 2026. Dali would be barred from selling its infringing tSeries and Matrix products into April of 2026.”

The Court also ruled that Dali’s willful infringement warranted trebling the damages, increasing the damages award from $2 million to $6 million, the company said.

All remedies addressed in the Court’s judgment were stayed pending appeal.

“It’s important that we protect our research investments with strategic intellectual property,” said Matt Melester, chief technology officer for CommScope’s Venue and Campus Networks, in a statement.
