CARY — Epic Games is expanding its headquarters in a big way to accommodate up to 2,000 employees, the Cary-based games developer and creators of global-hit Fortnite confirmed today. This does not necessarily mean new hires, however.
The plans include adding a 450,000- to 500,000-square-foot facility on its campus at the corner of Crossroads Boulevard and Jones Franklin Road, a property that Epic has owned since 2015.
Additional improvements are also planned for its current campus, and Epic said it is working with the Town of Cary to ensure compliance with applicable ordinances and regulations.
“We are elated that Epic Games is expanding their Cary headquarters,” Harold Weinbrecht, mayor of the Town of Cary, said in the company’s release. “We know that Epic could locate anywhere in the world, and we’re grateful that they’ve chosen to continue to call Cary home.”
Epic’s new facility will include a range of amenities, outdoor features, and additional parking.
Epic said it would continue “to seek out passionate, talented people to join its Cary headquarters and other locations around the world.”
The Cary Chamber also welcomed the news.
“We are very excited for the entire team at Epic Games and fully support their campus expansion plans in Cary. Epic has been a tremendous corporate citizen and with their continued innovation and development plans, they will continue to play a significant role in the growth of our local economy,” the Chamber said in its release. “This is another great example of Cary’s innovative and robust business climate.”
