RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – Raleigh’s  Slingshot Coffee, which makes cold brew java and specialized teas made from the dried husk of coffee cherry, and Durham’s CounterCulture Coffee raised equity rounds.

Slingshot raised $1.97 million from eight investors of a round targeted at $3 million, according to its SEC filing.

Slingshot, which started as a small batch coffee company expanded to become a leading cold brew firm with its products in stores from New York to Mexico. Starbucks, Donkin Donuts and Publix sell its products.

Cold brew coffee is a potent, highly caffeinated drink.

Counter Culture Coffee raised just short of $2 million.

Two investors contributed to the round. Counter Culture is dedicated to sustainability in the coffee industry and sells wholesale to restaurants, cafes, and retails its single origin brews.
