RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – ChannelAdvisor’s chief operating officer position disappeared in 2015 when David Spitz was promoted from that role to succeed company co-founder Scot Wingo. This week, the ecommerce services firm recreated the job and promoted an executive team member to take the job.

The new COO is Beth Segovia, a former Lenovo and IBM executive who joined ChannelAdvisor in 2017 as vice president of global services.

“In this newly-created role, she will be responsible for general operations, services, product and engineering, and human resources globally,” the company announced Thursday.

“We are thrilled to have Beth take on the role of chief operating officer,” Spitz said in the announcement. “Over the last two years, she has demonstrated that rare combination of strategic thinking, strong leadership, and an ability to roll up her sleeves and get into the details of our business on a customer-by-customer basis. Under her leadership, we have experienced improvements in churn, post-sales customer engagement, and our ability to expand with customers. We look forward to her contributions in her new role to further develop the business and deliver positive operating results.”

The news came the same day as ChannelAdvisor reported a 2.2 percent decline in year-over-year revenues to $31.9 million.
