APEX – A startup out of Apex called WhiteStar Communications has raised $400,000 in equity, according to a recent SEC filing.

The money came from two investors with a minimum investment $100,000. The filing does not disclose how the funds plan to be used.

Billy Moon, WhiteStar’s chief technology officer and vice president of engineering, is listed on the document.

According to his LinkedIn account, WhiteStar is a “spinout” from Red Shirt Robotics, and is dedicated to “bringing disruptive technologies” developed at Red Shirt to the market faster.

He founded Red Shirt in 2018 and ran it under that name for a year, producing “a range of robots targeted at the police and military marketplaces.”

The new company seems to have another mission.

“WhiteStar communication’s goal is to completely change the landscape for social media and for Internet of Things,” he wrote.

Also listed on the filing are Richard Moon from Georgia and Bobby Clay from Montana.
