CARY – Executives from Epic Games got an earful of criticism in Parliament today as British lawmakers unloaded criticism about Epic’s popular Fortnite game.

The Duke of Sussex demanded in April that Fortnite be banned since cit had been “created to addict.”

The Prince labeled Fortnite as “an addiction to keep you in front of a computer for as possible.” He also blasted social media in general, saying it is “more addictive than alcohol and drugs.”

In London on Wednesday, the BBC reports that Member of Parliament raised questions about Epic and Fortnite, ranging from age verification of players to screen time and addiction.

Epic marketing director Matt Weissinger told Parliament: “We don’t think our game is addictive.”

He also said that Epic’s preference is “to provide the tools where parents can monitor play time.”

Privately held Epic is valued at several billion dollars in value due in large part to the success of Fortnite which has more than 200 million players worldwide.
