RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK – A new study about “business friendliness” toward Hispanic entrepreneurs finds Raleigh and Durham scoring a lot lower than as a best place to start a business report.

Financial resource site WalletHub ranks Raleigh as No. 56 and Durham as No. 64 in the Hispanic entrepreneur study.

Charlotte, meanwhile, came in at N0. 91 out of 180 cities.

All three cities were in the top 10 as a place to launch a business in a WalletHub study released Monday.

Raleigh actually ranked No. 82 for “friendliness” but scored much higher at 28 for Hispanic purchasing power.

Durham also scored better in purchasing power at 32 than in friendliness at No. 101.

WalletHub says the rankings for the Hispanic study were based on “24 key indicators,” including Hispanic entrepreneurship rate, median annual income of Hispanics, and share of Hispanics with at least a bachelor’s degree.

Rankings of other North Carolina cities in the study:

  • Fayetteville, No. 140
  • Greensboro, No. 88
  • Winston Salem, No. 126

Laredo, Texas topped the survey.

  • Hispanic Entrepreneurship Rate
  • Average Growth of Hispanic Business Revenues (2012 vs. 2007)
  • Presence of Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
