MORRISVILLE — Align Technology Inc., the San Jose-based company whose best-known product is Invisalign, announced Tuesday it completed the purchase of an office building in Morrisville, North Carolina, for $58. 1 million.

Align first opened a North Carolina office in July 2015 with 14 employees. Today the office, which is near Raleigh-Durham International Airport, serves as the Americans region headquarters with over 400 employees.

The company’s global headquarters will remain in San Jose, California.

Align Technology designs and manufactures the Invisalign system, the clear alternative to braces, and iTero oral scanners and services. Align’s products help dental professionals.

The company is seeking to fill positions in various areas including sales, marketing, research and development, human resources and other functions.

“Over the last four years, Raleigh’s deep talent pool has helped Align grow and strengthen its presence in the area,” said Ginger Maseda, Align’s senior director of global talent acquisition, in a statement. “We also believe that it’s important to give back to this community that has been so welcoming to Align. Our employees are active in a number of local causes including our annual Smile Drive, and we’re a proud sponsor of the Carolina Hurricanes.”

The company announced a record annual financial performance for 2018 in January,  reporting revenues of $2 billion and 1.2 million cases of Invisalign, up 31.9 percent from 2017.

Align was trading at $292.71 before market opening on Tuesday.
