MORRISVILLE  — The chief executive officer of surgical robotics company TransEnterix Inc. saw a 31.1 percent increase in total compensation in 2018, according to a filing Friday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Todd Pope received $3.56 million in total compensation last year, up from $2.72 million in 2017.

Pope’s base salary rose to $480,000 in 2018 from $466,796 the previous year. His stock awards rose to $1.79 million from $1.25 million in 2017.

In addition, his stock options rose to $935,000 from $660,300.

Chief Financial Officer Joseph Slattery saw his total compensation rise to $2.27 million in 2018 from $1.34 million in 2017.

In January, the company received U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance for its Senhance Ultrasonic System.

The Senhance system is a multi-port system that brings the advantages of robotic surgery to patients and is the first new abdominal robotic surgery platform to receive FDA clearance since 2000.

In the United States, the Senhance system is now approved for laparoscopic colorectal, gynecological, inguinal hernia and gallbladder removal surgery.

The company sold five systems internationally in the fourth quarter.

The company’s stock closed Friday at $2.39, up 6 cents.

TransEnterix’s annual meeting will be held on April 25 at 2 p.m. at 635 Davis Drive, Suite 300, in Morrisville.
