LONG VIEW — OneH2, a Long View-based hydrogen fuel company, announced plans to renovate its headquarters with a $250,000 grant received from the North Carolina Department of Commerce and the Town of Long View.

The company has committed to creating 21 new local jobs for engineers, technicians and business professionals for the purpose of renovating the existing factory to accommodate hydrogen equipment production lines.

According to OneH2, the particular facility was selected with the assistance of local utility companies due to its proximity to low transmission cost feedstock necessary for competitive hydrogen fuel production.

“Things are really moving along here at OneH2,” OneH2 Senior Vice President and Director of Operations Wes Pandoff said in a statement. “Everyone at the company is excited about the progress we’ve made in such a short amount of time. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank the State of North Carolina for its generous support and encouragement of the hydrogen industry, as well as reaffirm our commitment to the town of Long View.”

OneH2 expects the facility will serve as a template for future hubs to be built internationally.

Aiming for growth, NC hydrogen fuel firm makes acquisition

The company said each OneH2 hub will allow hydrogen to challenge the regional price of gasoline and diesel at the pump, which will attract businesses operating truck fleets because of reduced costs.

OneH2 was founded in 2015. Earlier this week, the company announced it had acquired all of the hydrogen generation and production assets of Nuvera Fuel Cells, a Massachusetts-based company.
