RALEIGH – Derrick Minor, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Manager in the Office of Economic Development + Innovation for the City of Raleigh, is leaving that job.

He’s joining Raleigh startup K4 Connect as Manager of People Operations.

One of the most visible economic development officials working with the Triangle’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, Minor is leaving after six years with the city.

“After 6 great years, today will be my last day with the City of Raleigh.,” Minor said in an email Friday.

“It was a bittersweet decision for me, but the best decision nonetheless. I am still amazed at how the local startup and entrepreneurship community has expanded over the years and I am so grateful to have played a contributing role.”

As of Monday, he goes to work with the Scott Moody-led startup.

“I have known Scott since he moved back to the Triangle and he has become of personal friend over the years,” Minor wrote.

“For those that are unfamiliar with K4Connect, we are a mission-driven, venture-funded, high-growth tech company headquartered in Raleigh. We have 50 team members now and with our recent Series B raise in October, we will be growing our team and our presence in the Triangle!”

However, Minor said he would “remain heavily involved in the local startup community (probably even more so now, albeit a different capacity)….

“I will also continue to curate the upcoming list of startup and entrepreneurship events (aka Derrick’s List) and I hope to stay connected with you all moving forward!”
