Around 100 black entrepreneurs and professionals packed into American Underground’s Google Lounge for the ImBlackInTech mixer. (Check this link for more coverage about the who, what, when, where and why of the event.)

With a DJ mixing music in the background, attendees got to mix and mingle and talk shop, while eating fried plantains and sipping cold beer.

It’s the third time the group has hosted the event to sell-out crowds in as many months, and organizers are hoping demand could make it a permanent fixture on the local tech scene.

“By us pulling together as a community, we’re really making a statement that this group of people is important, and what they’re doing is valid,” said said organizer Tarryn Henry, AU’s director of Member Experience.
