Strata Solar, headquartered in Chapel Hill since 2008, is moving to the Mill and Power Plant buildings in the downtown Durham’s Golden Belt campus.

Strata will occupy more than 50,000 square feet on the building’s second floor and adjacent power plant. The move is planned for January 2019.

Strata plans an expansion of its operations center that monitors its solar farms.

The company has installed 1.3 gigawatts of solar power and has 1.8 gigawatts in operations and maintenance contracts it will monitor from the new location with a state-of-the-art operations center.

In a statement, CEO Markus Wilhelm said, “We needed a space that could accommodate all of our local employees under one roof and give us the ability to continue expanding.” He also pointed out that “The tranformatin of the Mill building and old power plant into a center of clean energy technology and artistic expression is a great symbol of the innovation that has driven our company’s success.”

The company employs 330 and is hiring.
