DURHAM – Durham-based beer distributor Harris Beverages has raised $2 million of a $3 million debt offering, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The company, which traces its roots back to 1933 and the end of prohibition originally spun off the Durham Fruit and Produce Co. as Ace Distributing Co.

Board chair Joe Harris bought the company in 1975 and renamed it Harris Inc. Parts of the company were sold to Harris children as separate entities that were consolidated into Harris Beverages in 2012.

It cites revenue of from $25,000 to $100,000 annually on the  SEC filing.

It sells and services Durham, Orange, Person, Vance, Granville, Franklin and Warren Counties and the town of Pittsboro.
