CARY –Epic Games and McFarlane Toys will partner to create collectible figures, resin statues and accessories based on Epic’s blockbuster Fortnite game, the companies said Monday.

The McFarlane Fortnite collection will feature seven-inch premium figures based on the game.

The announcement follows Epic’s deal with Funko Inc. (Nasdaq:FNKO) to create a range of Fortnite branded collectibles in ten different product lines, including Funko’s iconic Pop! figures, 5 Star figures, Pint Size Heroes, Vynl, keychains, POP! apparel and more, disclosed earlier this month.

Fortnite, which recently had its one-year anniversary, has been a money-machine for Epic Games, which is reportedly now worth up to $8 billion. It has 125 million users worldwide. The game pits users against a variety of monsters and can be played for free across a variety of devices and platforms, including PCs, Apple’s Xbox and PlayStation 4. Reports say players have made more than $1 billion in-game purchases.

Epic plans to make the game available on a variety of Android phones beginning with the Galaxy Note 9 in August.

“The Fortnight brand has taken on global status and continues to grow each day,” said Epic CEO and Founder Todd McFarlane in a statement about the McFarlane deal. “The game, with its sense of skill and irreverent fun, now has hundreds of character options to choose from, which is a tremendous blueprint for making any successful toy and action figure line.”

He added, “The developer’s art team at Epic Games wants to bring that same attitude into the creation of their toys, and everyone here at McFarlane Toys will be doing all we can to bring Fortnite fans the very best products. With such as deep and visually interesting library to choose from, I have no doubt we will be able to showcase both current and classic looks from the Fortnite franchise.”

Donald Mustard, worldwide creative director of Epic Games said in a statement that “We’ve been fans of Todd and McFarlane Toys for years and years, and it’s been a dream come true to have the opportunity to collaborate with them. I think players are going to be just blown away.”

The toys are set to launch in Fall 2018 and will be available in retail stores.
