Voxelight, a Raleigh startup focusing on technology to improve sunscreen protection, continues to raise cash  in the form of debt, options and securities.

According to a securities filing, Voxelight has raised a total of $587.500 from six investors. It wants to raise $750,000.

The company has been raising capital since last year with an initial target of $500,000.

Voxelight says its Sunscreenr camera-like product helps prevent sunburn by helping people ensure sunscreen has been applied thoroughly.

“It shows you where you’ve missed a spot when applying sunscreen AND where sunscreen has worn off your skin,” the company says.

“According to the CDC skin cancer is over 90% preventable. We just don’t do a good enough job protecting ourselves.   That’s in part because were blind – sunscreen is invisible on the skin and no human can see UV light,” explains CEO Dave Cohen.

“Sunscreenr gives everyone the power to better protect themselves from the sun by making the invisible visible.”

Cohen is a serial inventor with 23 patents, by the way. He cites “multidisciplinary engineering, medical device and bioanalytical instrumentation development, forensic technology and program, engineering and product management as among his strengths.
