An Atlanta-based developer has acquired three parcels of land in the Triad as part of a project for a proposed Amazon distribution center, according to  a report in The Winston-Salem Journal.

“Amazon’s proposed plans surfaced May 30 for a 1-million-square-foot center that could employ up to 953 full-time and full-time equivalent workers (two or more people working combined hours that equal full-time employment),” the newspaper said.

The land is near FedEx Ground operations in Kernersville and is 10 miles of the FedEx sorting hub at Piedmont Triad International Airport, the Journal noted.

Amazon already operates distribution centers near Charlotte and makes deliveries for its Amazon Prime service from operations in the Triangle area.

The ecommerce giant also is considering the Triangle as a site for its HQ2 project and 50,000 jobs.

The land purchases were made after June 8 and were posted on Monday, according to the report.

The land buyer is HPC-Seefried NC I LLC.

“HPC-Seefried has an address of 3333 Riverwood Parkway, the same as Seefried Properties Inc., which has developed similar fulfillment centers for the online retailing giant,” according to the report.
