RALEIGH – With sales of LigaTrap Technologies protein purification products doubling, CEO Mike Crapanzano recently announced that the company secured an additional $1 million in private funding that will allow the continuation of research and development to further expand its protein purification product line.

LigaTrap also announced its acceptance into the National Institute for Advanced Manufacturing of Biopharmaceuticals or NIIMBL. NIIMBL is a national consortium missioned to accelerate biopharmaceutical manufacturing innovation, support the development of standards that enable more efficient and rapid manufacturing capabilities, and educate and train a world-leading biopharmaceutical manufacturing workforce, fundamentally advancing U.S. competitiveness in this industry.
NIIMBL’s National Network includes large and small pharmaceutical companies, universities, community colleges, and other organizations all working toward reducing the cost and improving manufacturing efficiency to produce quality of life saving medicines for the world.
LigaTrap’s membership in NIIMBL was made possible by a grant from the North Carolina Science, Technology and Innovation Commission through NC State University.

We are also pleased to have moved operations to the Triangle and becoming part of the 3rd largest biomanufacturing cluster in the US,” said Crapanzano.
John Hardin, the Executive Director of the North Carolina Science, Technology, and Innovation Commission and member of the NIIMBL Governing Committee stated, “This is another example of how North Carolina and NC State University are supporting innovative companies in the State”.
LigaTrap also recently added to its intellectual property portfolio by obtaining additional licenses from the NC State Office of Technology Transfer, and has introduced new products, including a new line of protein purification columns that provide low cost protein purification across numerous species.
