Gary Lohr, former Novo Nordisk director and Clayton, North Carolina deputy site head, has been named general manager of NNE’s US operations. Lohr, who led the 10-year expansion of Novo Nordisk in Clayton, nearly tripling its manufacturing capability and employee base, is NNE’s first American head of US operations.

Lohr also guided the $2 billion expansion of Novo Nordisk in Clayton in 2014, the largest manufacturing investment in NC history. Previously, he led the design, commissioning and startup of the GlaxoSmithKline manufacturing facility for the Advair Diskus dry powder inhaler.

NNE, a full-service engineering firm, offers an “integrated engineering” approach to the GMP regulated pharmaceutical industry. Its US operations are headquartered in Durham, where it has 100 employees. It has two other US locations, one in Emeryville and the other in West Village, California.

The company has 15 locations and 2,000 employees globally. The company reported US revenue of between $50 million and $60 million.

NNE’s US clients include Novartis Sandoz, Novo Nordisk, Thermo Fisher, and United Therapeutics.
