MORRISVILLE – Get Spiffy, the on-demand car care and services startup led led by serial entrepreneur and investor Scot Wingo, is making an investment of its own. In India.

Better known as Spiffy, the Triangle-based firm is backing Revive Labs PL, also known as Refreshed Car Care, which operates out of Mumbai.

Refreshed, which launched in 2016, is “the leading on-demand car wash company in India,” Wingo tells WRAL TechWire.

“In the ecommerce world, India is a top 5 market that is growing at a tremendous pace.  We think this plays out in the on-demand economy so are excited to have the global alliance with the leader in that market,” he adds.

“Even though it’s early days compared to ecommerce, we think it’s important to play a long game here.”

The deal also is helping Spiffy learn more about the car care market, Wingo adds.

Wingo co-founded ecommerce services startup ChannelAdvisor and led it through an IPO. He later stepped down as CEO and focused much of is attention on angel investing. He chose to back Spiffy then became its CEO.

“India is one of the fastest growing e-commerce markets and we believe that technology led on-demand services will be the second digital wave to sweep through the country,” Wingo noted in the announcement. “We evaluated the Indian market and it was clear that Refreshed is in a position to be the leader in this top five digital market and we look forward to supporting them to achieve that goal. The Refreshed team, operations and strategy are all world-class.”

The amount of the investment was not disclosed.

Both firms operate self-contained vans from which services are provided.

“We look forward to sharing best practices in India and learning what is working for Spiffy in the US. Together, we will build a stronger value proposition for our customers in both continents.”

Spiffy launched in 2014 and now operates in the Triangle as well as Charlotte, Atlanta, Los Angeles and Dallas.
