Frontier Capital, a growing investment firm with a focus on emerging technology companies, is launching a drive to raise a new private equity fund.

And the Charlotte-based outfit is aiming high, looking to land $500 million.

The disclosure came Thursday in a securities filing.

The fund is titled Frontier Fund 5.

Its Fund 4 closed with $390 million in 2015.

In 2012, Frontier raised $250 million.

Richard T. Maclean, Frontier’s general partner, signed the filing.

No money has yet been raised for the “pooled investment fund.”
