Cree began with just two employees, but on Aug. 24, the company marked it’s 30th anniversary – with 6,000 employees around the world.

John Palmour and his colleagues said they didn’t start out to build a better light bulb.

“I wouldn’t say we stumbled into it, we forged into it when nobody else thought it was possible,” he said.

Cree now works to power electric cars and buses in China, to load battery packs to bring light to dark parts of the planet and to be stewards of resources both renewable and one and done.

Cree is named for the father of one of the founders. Palmour said they are ready to deliver more new products for the next 30 years.
