Raleigh-based SinnovaTek which uses specialized thermal food processing technology to produce shelf stable products that do not require freezing or refrigeration during transport, storage, or distribution, has raised an equity round just under $100,000, according to a regulatory filing.

The company provides engineering and equipment to food processors seeking sterile shelf stable products via the advanced thermal technoloogy.

According to its web site, it provides an experienced group of engineers that can aid in designing and building aseptic facilities, including process flow diagrams, facility layout, and process optimization. Its food scientists can also assist in product development from ideation, to formulation development, to commercialization.

The process allows companies to create products such as the liquid coffee creamer packets that need no refrigeration and are have stable shelf lives of up to two years.The equipment to sterilize both food products and packages to produce the long-shelf-life products is fairly elaborate and has roots in research at NC State University.

The technology was recently featured at the Agbio Summit in Chapel Hill.

The company disclosed the raise of $900,007 in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.
