Dhruv Patel has left the Council for Entrepreneurial Development to join Square 1 Bank in Durham. But one thing won’t change: He’s still working with venture capitalists.

On Friday, Patel tweeted the news that he was leaving CED – along with a photo of his “retirement gift” – a Superman watch.

In July, WRAL TechWire labeled Patel the “matchmaker” for his role in matching CED members with potential investors as part of the CED’s “Connections to Capital” program.

He had filled CED’s Investor Relations role, also working with media outlets and other sources to provide information about deals and trends.

“After 10 great years at CED Dhruv is joining Square 1 Bank as a part of the Southeast Tech banking team. He has been a significant contributor to the entrepreneurial community while at CED, most recently building a successful investor relations and outreach program,” the CED said in a statement.

“Miriam Wilson, who has extensive investment experience, is taking on Dhruv’s investor relations role. The CED team could not be happier for Dhruv as he takes this next step in his career.”
