In the $17 billion “merger of equals” between Quintiles and IMS Health, the new QuintilesIMS management tilts to IMS at the highest of three levels but the old Quintiles nabs half or more of the next two executive suite tiers.

Tom Pike, the former CEO of Quintiles, is listed in the second tier of the new management team as one of six “Global Business United Leaders.”

Part of the merger agreement, which Pike helped set in motion with IMS Health CEO Ari Bousbib, saw Pike step aside from a CEO role. Bousbib is chair and CEO of the combined company.

Pike’s new role is Vice Chairman and President, Research & Development Solutions.

However, Pike does stand to gain some $16 million as part of the deal, as was reported in June.

Among the eight “Corporate Leaders,” including Bousbib, three Quintiles executives landed positions:

  • Michael McDonnell, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
  • James Erlinger III, Executive Vice President and General Counsel
  • Kris Wadia, Senior Vice President, Global Delivery Network

Among six “Global Business Unit Leaders,” Pike and two other Quintiles alums landed spots:

  • W. Scott Evangelista, President, Integrated Engagement Services
  • Elgar Peerschke, Senior Advisor to the CEO, Senior Vice President, Customer Relations

However, among Research & Development Solutions Leaders, Quintiles scored a clean sweep, 5-0. They are:

  • Chris Cabell, Senior Vice President, Global Sales, Research & Development Solutions
  • Margaret Keegan, President, Data Sciences, Safety and Regulatory, Research & Development Solutions
  • Costa Panagos, Chief Executive Officer, Q2 Solutions, a Quintiles Quest Joint Venture Research & Development Solutions
  • Neil Ralphson, Senior Vice President, Account Management
  • Cynthia Verst, President, Clinical Operations Research & Development Solutions
