Lenovo is pushing back the official launch of its highly touted augmented reality-equipped phone. according to several phone industry websites.

Lenovo is counting on the large phone with a 6-inch screen as part of its efforts to re-ignite its struggling smartphone business.

The large phone, known as Phab 2 Pro, is expected to sell for some $500.

Lenovo began touting the Project Tango phone (a reference to augmented reality technology being developed by Google) earlier this year.

The news websites note that Lenovo recently changed the release date on its website for the Phab 2 Pro.

It also will be released in fewer countries with the early focus being on Asian markets, the reports note.

Lenovo had promised a summer release.

“The Phab 2 Pro will be commercially available in these [Asian] countries as early as next month, but there’s no telling when it will come in other regions,” news website PhoneArena reported early Monday.

“Also, Herman Cheng Manager, Global Tablet Marketing Communications for Lenovo, now claims the Phab 2 Pro will be ‘available in stores this holiday season,'” PhoneArena added.

The Phab 2 comes equipped with multiple cameras that are part of the augmented reality technology. The phone utilizes the cameras, motion tracking, depth perception and other intelligence to create the augmented reality experience on its screen.

The Phab 2 specs, according to Androidheadlines.com, include:

  • Large 6.4-inch Quad-HD display
  • Built with 2.5D glass
  • Powered by a QualcommSnapdragon 652 System-on-Chip and an Adreno 510
  • 4GB of RAM
  • 64GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card slot.
  • 16-megapixel Fast-Focus sensor on the rear with phase detection autofocus,
  • Depth Sensor for Tango
  • Motion Tracking Sensor for Tango, while the front sports an 8-megapixel sensor
  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow
  • Fingerprint scanner
  • 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, and WiFi 8 connectivity options
