CloudFactory isn’t really a factory, but a provider of expertise in back-office services so that clients can focus on sales, growth and innovation. But the Durham-based firm says its solution is more than standard outsourcing.

“We combine bright people and brilliant technology to change the way the world works,” says CEO Mark Sears. “Our WorkStream subscriptions make it super easy to spin up a team in the cloud, define requirements and start streaming work fast.”

The Durham-based startup is presenting its solutions at CED Tech Venture.

This profile is the latest in a series of Tech Venture presenters published by WRAL TechWire in partnership with the CED.

The Q&A follows:

  • What is the focus of your business?

CloudFactory is focused on making it super easy for startups and fast-growing businesses to offload back-office work so they are free to focus on innovation and growth.

  • What is the top pain point/business application you are seeking to address?

Businesses of all kinds are bogged down in routine, but essential data-oriented work. This work is often critical to core business processes or their customer experience. The available options are painful and hard to trust. It’s critical that this essential work is easy to start, manage and scale as needed.

Our tech-forward approach and professionally managed workforce enable us to start fast, collaborate and adapt quickly to changing work requirements.

  • What makes it unique?

We combine bright people and brilliant technology to change the way the world works. Our WorkStream subscriptions make it super easy to spin up a team in the cloud, define requirements and start streaming work fast.

All work is completed through our custom Chromium-based browser, with algorithms that constantly analyze the clickstream and video feed to measure activity and engagement of each worker. With this data we’re able to monitor the productivity and quality of each WorkStream at all times.

In addition, CloudFactory is a leader in impact sourcing with a bold vision to connect 1 million people in developing nations to meaningful work. We recruit our workforce from talent “hot spots” around the globe such as Nepal and Kenya where we can hire the best and the brightest. Our cell-based workforce model and workforce management technology is what allows us to tap into these rich pools and deliver high-quality work at affordable prices.

  • Why should investors be interested in your firm?

Every year $300B worth of business process work is outsourced. This massive market is ripe for massive disruption. CloudFactory has processed almost 1 billion tasks and millions of dollars in routine, repetitive work for our early adopters – leading technology startups and enterprises. We’re utilizing all of that experience to launch WorkStream, a new product for the majority market that provides visibility, intelligence and confidence in a global labor market that is inefficient and broken.
