  • Cisco loses suit

Bloomberg reports that Cisco has been ordered to pay $23.5 million in a security patent lawsuit with SRI international.

“Jurors in federal court in Wilmington, Delaware, concluded Thursday that San Jose, California-based Cisco used technology owned by SRI International, the former research arm of Stanford University, without permission. The panel rejected Cisco’s arguments that it didn’t infringe or that the two at-issue patents weren’t valid,” Bloomberg reported.

  • ​IBM sues former exec

IBM is suing the former exec who led its cloud computing unit who joined Informatica.

Reusters says IBM is “accusing [Louis Attanasio] of violating his non-compete agreement by joining a rival software company and misappropriating trade secrets before leaving.”

Big Blue also wants $500,000 in non-salary compensation back.

  • ​Lenovo: Server pact with EMC ending

The forthcoming merger with Dell will lead to the end of EMC’s server agreement with Lenovo, says Lenovo COO Gerry Smith.

Smith told CRN “there was ‘no question’ that arch rival Dell’s more-than $60 billion acquisition of EMC this year would end Lenovo’s four-year relationship with the data storage giant.”

  • RBS picks Red Hat

Red Hat has landed the Royal Bank of Scotland for a new deal.

“The technologies included mobile application platform and OpenShift Enterprise, Red Hat’s web-scale container application platform,” Retail Banking reports.

  • Lenovo goes big with new tablet

A new tablet from Lenovo is b-i-g.

“There’s talk of a Lenovo tablet with a whopping 18.4-inch display that could be coming soon, and rather than operate as a Windows desktop machine, it’s supposed to run Android,” Yahoo News reports.
