James Avery, Adzerk

James Avery is the Founder and CEO of Adzerk. Adzerk is an API-based ad server that provides the infrastructure for publishers, communities, marketplaces, and utilities to customize and scale advertising. Previously, James founded TekPub (sold to PluralSite), The Lounge (sold to Code Project), and Ruby Row (sold to CarbonAds)

Thursday, May 19

Cindy Whitehead, Sprout Pharma (Sold) and The Pink Ceiling

A serial entrepreneur, Cindy has started and sold two Raleigh based pharmaceutical companies. Most recently she co-founded and was CEO of Sprout Pharmaceuticals which broke through with the first ever FDA approved drug for low sexual desire in women. Following that approval, she sold the company for $1B upfront + future milestones to Valeant pharmaceuticals. Today through her new company, The Pink Ceiling, Cindy advises and invests in other businesses bringing focus or breaking through on women’s issues.

Eric Koester, Next Gen Venture Partners

Eric is a partner at Next Gen Ventures where they invest in early stage technology companies. Prior to NextGen, Eric co-founded Main Street Genome and Zaarly.com, with investors including Floodgate, Kleiner Perkins, and CrunchFund. He currently lectures on entrepreneurship at Georgetown. Eric also holds at JD from George Washington University.
