The Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship at Duke University, or CASE, is making key moves with regards to human capital.

The group today announced that Robyn Fehrman will join the staff as director of programs. Robyn is the former executive director of Teach for America in Eastern North Carolina.

Fehrman will lead the Social Entrepreneurship Accelerator at Duke (SEAD) program, a cross-campus initiative that identifies and supports global health innovators to scale their impact funded by USAID, as well as work to engage Duke students and faculty in social enterprise research and educational opportunities.

Last week, CASE announced that it has brought on the organization’s first Executive-in-Residence, Alden Zecha, co-founder, CEO, and strategist at Sproxil, a social venture that uses SMS texting services to protect against counterfeit pharmaceuticals.

Zecha will serve for one year in this role, and will be involved in a range of activities, from mentoring student teams in the Fuqua Client Consulting Practicumto providing guidance on CASE initiatives such as Smart Impact Capital and the Social Entrepreneurship Accelerator at Duke. In addition, Zecha will be contributing to CASE’s thought leadership work through our CASE Chats, a public talk, and blog posts on the CASE website.

“Our goal with the Executive-in-Residence program is to provide the Fuqua community with the opportunity to benefit from Alden Zecha’s depth of experience working with social ventures both domestically and internationally,” said CASE Executive Director Erin Worsham in a statement published online. “We are excited that Fuqua students and our team will have access to his real-world experience and insights. This is a fantastic resource for our community.”

Worsham also announced last week that CASE would again form an advisory council.

“I am proud to announce the relaunch of the CASE Advisory Council,” said Worsham, “a group of top tier leaders in social entrepreneurship that are uniquely positioned – in social entrepreneurship, business, and philanthropy – to identify the key trends that will drive the field forward, provide thought leadership, and advise CASE on strategy and future direction.”
