The well-funded Durham startup, a spin-out from ReverbNation earlier this year, is positioning itself to grow beyond real estate to other industries too. Newly re-named (from Bevii), this seed-funded Chapel Hill startup has built a social network that’s based on location. It collects data about the people you spend the most time with and helps you stay connected with them through messaging, social media updates or meeting up. K4Connect

A $1.4 million contract is getting this downtown Raleigh based connected home startup integrated in senior living communities across Pennsylvania. But to reach that scale, developers, marketing and customer success managers are needed. A recent graduate of Launch Chapel Hill, LineHire provides contests for professional recruiters to submit the best candidates for open jobs and earn cash. The goal is to dramatically lower the cost to hire by removing the need for companies to hire their own recruiters.
