Pack Purchase is making a splash as it gears up for business, landing $1 million in venture funding from two Triangle backers. The startup founded by Tyler Graybeal helps homeowners package a variety of maintenance services, the goal being to save customers time and money while guaranteeing service. No contracts, either.

Here’s how the process work:

Enter your home address at the website then Pack Purchase takes over, promising:

  • We find and vet the area’s best home service providers for you.
  • We provide instant quotes, centralized communication and support.
  • 100%
  • We back our services with a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

Initial backers include IDEA Fund Partners in Durham and the recently established Cofounders Capital, which is based in Cary.

Pack Purchase also received a grant from economic development group NC IDEA in 2014. NC IDEA is closely affiliated with IDEA Fund partners. When Pack Purchase won the grant in June of 2014, NC IDEA noted: “Pack Purchase is an online tool to help people manage their homes. Pack Purchase brings together residents and top home services providers to reduce many pain points typically associated with this area of life.”

And the startup say it isn’t finished. The aim is to close a seed round of $1.5 million.

Pack Purchase actually began raising money a year ago, according to SEC filings. The company has eight backers.

So what’s the goal?

To revolutionize the home services industry by putting together all the following simply and quickly:

  • Web-based access for customer to select from maintenance providers
  • Pricing instantly by service
  • Platform for scheduling, payment and communication with providers
  • No contracts
  • 100 percent guarantee for services provided

Dave Gardner, the founder of Cofounders Capital, a $10 million fund, likes what he sees. “Organizing and managing all of your home maintenance services is a real headache today,” he said in the announcement.

In the announcement, Lister Delgado, managing partner of Idea Fund Partners, concurred.

“Getting quotes, vetting providers and comparing pricing is time consuming and it’s difficult to hold vendors accountable for their work,” he said. “These guys are changing all of that by providing a simple free website where homeowners can just click on what they want and Pack Purchase takes care of everything…centralized service, better pricing and more convenient.”

Pack Purchase has already been running trials in some Triangle neighborhoods

Vendors are “hand picked,” the startup says.
