Merz North America, which just opened its new Raleigh headquarters on Thursday, now has a new product to sell. The Food and Drug Administration has approved a “dermal filler” for hands.

The product is called Radiesse.

It is an injectable treatment designed to “reduce the prominence of tendons and veins in the hands1, delivering smooth, natural-looking results that can last up to 1 year,” the company says.

It’s the first time the FDA has approved such a treatment for hands.

“Merz is proud to be able to provide patients and physicians with the first and only dermal filler approved by the FDA for use in the hands,” said Jim Hartman, Vice President and Head of U.S. Aesthetics/Over the Counter for Merz North America.

“Market research tells us that attention to the aesthetic appearance of hands has increased in recent years, particularly among individuals who have undergone facial rejuvenation procedures2. This new indication for Radiesse® is a result of our focus on meeting unmet needs in the US aesthetics market, and we are excited to provide our physician customers with this new option to better fulfill the aesthetic desires of their patients.”

Merz North America recently decided to move its headquarters and 250 jobs to Raleigh from Greensboro.
