Steve Case, already an investor in Lolly Wolly in Lexington and Windsor Circle in Durham, is bringing his “Rise of the Rest” tour of the Triangle. He’ll be looking to invest $100,000 in a startup, too.

Case announced his latest tour Monday morning in an appearance on CNBC.

The Raleigh-Durham stop is set for May 5.

Case has several partners involved in the events.

Five other cities also are part of the 1,200-mile tour. Case will invest $100,000 at each stop. He’s also scheduled to visit Richmond where the tour begins on May 4; Charleston, S.C.; Atlanta and New Orleans.

Hearing pitches from startups is part of the tour.

Case also will be putting on public and private events.

“The Rise of the Rest bus tour is heading south to some of America¹s oldest cities where entrepreneurs are creating some of the newest businesses, innovations, and jobs in Richmond, Raleigh-Durham, Charleston, Atlanta, and New Orleans,” Case said. “I look forward to celebrating the promise of these rising communities, making investments in local startups, and shining a light on the importance of entrepreneurship in the American south and across the nation.”

Case has made two other tours.

Google for Entrepreneurs, UP Global, Salesforce for Startups, Engine, Seed Here Studio, Tech Cocktail, Startup Grind and Village Capital also are backing the tour.

Organizers say the following will happen at each stop:

  • Visit local startups, accelerators and incubators
  • Hold public events with Steve Case, local entrepreneurs, investors, elected officials, civic leaders and others to discuss the local startup ecosystem
  • Run a pitch competition with a panel of all-star judges who decide which companies will receive $100,000 investments
  • Celebrate at a party and networking event for local leaders in each startup community
