In an interview at the Wall Street Journal’s re/code technology conference, billionaire Mark Cuban ripped the FCC’s proposal for Internet regulation under the term “net neutrality.”

“That will [bleep] everything up,” Cuban, a Triangle tech investor and owner of the NBA Dallas Mavericks, said at the event in Laguna Niguel, Calif. on Wednesday.

FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler wants the FCC to embrace tougher Internet regulation rules, a call also made by President Obama. The regulations would in part prohibit throttling or granting faster access of Internet services.

“Net neutrality is just a demonization of big companies,” Cuban said.

As an entrepreneur, Cuban founded Broadcast.com and later sold it to Yahoo. He also appears on the TV show “Shark Tank.”

Capitol Broadcasting, the parent firm of WRAL TechWire, was an early investor in Cuban.

“Having them overseeing the Internet scares the shit out of me,” Cuban said of the FCC’s politically appointed members.

Re/code did note, however, that Cuban would not fight a law in Congress that barred Internet providers from discriminating or blocking legal websites.
