Quintiles (NYSE: Q) is the world’s top contract research organization for the third straight year as judged in the prestigious annual SCRIP Awards.

The SCRIP Awards are among the best-known in the life science industry, so much so that three N.C. firms are major sponsors.

In addition to Quintiles, INC Research (Nasdaq: INCR) and PPD sponsored top awards.

In fact, Quintiles topped INC Research, PPD and WCCT Global in the short list of finalists.

Quintiles, the world’s largest life science services company which is based in Durham, has earned the SCRIPS CRO honor in four of the last five years.

“To be recognized for the third straight year by SCRIP is a tremendous accomplishment,” said Paula Brown Stafford, Quintiles’ president of Clinical Development. “It demonstrates the true impact that Quintiles has on improving our customers’ probability of success and on the broader biopharmaceutical industry. We are honored to receive this award, and I would like to dedicate it to our employees around the world who made all of our tremendous accomplishments this past year possible.”

Judging is done by an independent panel. The awards were handed out at a ceremony in London.

“Our judges felt Quintiles was a worthy winner of the Best Contract Research Organization trophy for the third year in a row,” said Mike Ward, global director of content for IBI Pharma News & Datamonitor Healthcare, in a statement. “In the qualifying year, Quintiles once again demonstrated a series of performance milestones in its quest to improve its customers’ probability of success. Among its many accomplishments, Quintiles signed a series of transformational partnerships and launched innovative technologies to improve trial execution. Despite plenty of competition, Quintiles remains the CRO to beat.”
