CARY, N.C. – ABB Ltd. (NYSE: ABB) was named to Fortune’s Most Admired Companies for Industrial Machinery on Monday.

The power and automation technology company has its North American Headquarters in Cary.

ABB tops this year’s list as No. 1 in the sector, up from its previous ranking of No. 6.

This announcement comes on the heels of some major recent announcements for the automation and power company, including: opening a 5th factory in Brazil, investing in Persimmon and upgrading the UK rail network.

Locally, ABB is working with Marbles Kids Museum on a new exhibit Kid Grid, scheduled to open this summer. Kid Grid is a one-of-a-kind exhibit that introduces children to the power grid, helps them make smart energy choices and inspires interest in energy careers through hands-on, minds-on play.

ABB also was named by President Barack Obama as a partner in the Manufacturing Innovation Institute led by N.C. State University.
