Lenovo will utilize a former Ericsson location for server operations that are being acquired in a $2.3 billion deal with IBM.

In a statement to WRALTechWire, a Lenovo spokesperson said the decision had been made to locate at two buildings and also will construct additional space.

Earlier med reports cites a letter from Lenovo’s top Americas executive Gerry Smith, who also heads the Enterprise Business Group that will expand to include IBM’s x86 server business.

Some 2,000 IBM employees in RTP are expected to be transferred to Lenovo as part of the deal, which still must be approved by government regulators.

The former Ericsson complex on Davis Drive includes two buildings and 450,000 square feet of space.

Lenovo already operates a three building campus in Morrisville.

The Ericsson complex was recently purchased by Rubenstein Partners in Philadelphia.

The Business Journal in Raleigh and The News & Observer both said they obtained a copy of the Lenovo letter.
