The Entrepreneurs’ Series kickoff event focusing on the venture capital outlook for 2014 is adding some venture capital star power to its lineup: The managing director of high-flying Andreessen Horowitz.

“We added Scott Kupor, Managing Director at Andreessen Horowitz to the mix of speakers,” Jason Caplain of Bull City Partners reports.

“AH is one of the most high profile firms in the country having backed companies like Skype, Airbnb, Coinbase, Box.net, Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter.”

John Burke, co-founder and partner at True Ventures, also has been added to the lineup, Caplain says.

Marc Andreesseen and Ben Horowitz are two of the best-known VCs in the country ($2.7 billion raised). One of their portfolio firms, UberConference, opened an office in Raleigh last November.

Local entrepreneurs as well as investors will have opportunities to get face time with Kupor.

“He is flying in and will do a fireside chat at the event,” says Caplain, who is putting on the event along with partner David Jones.

The Entrepreneurs’ Series event is set for Wednesday, Feb. 26, and will include two panel discussions:

  • One by institutional investors
  • The other by angels

Kupor, who has numerous connections to the Triangle and once lived in the area, delivered the opening keynote at last year’s investment preview.

He established the first remote research and development and support operations in Cary for OpsWare. Kupor “grew office by 3x in 18 months,” according to his LinkedIn profile.

The event will take place at the Brier Creek Country Club. Registration information is available online.
