AT&T wireless is best wireless network in Raleigh, according to an analysis by independent research and testing organization RootMetrics.

RootMetrics’ analysis gave AT&T a combined score of 99.5. Verizon was second at 95.3. T-Mobile and Sprint scored 85.0 and 82.5 respectively. AT&T’s first place RootMetrics rank in combined service and data in Raleigh was the first for the carrier, breaking Verizon’s streak. AT&T had the highest marks for data, calls and combined performance. In text performance, AT&T’s performance was a draw with Verizon.

RootMetrics’ findings were based on an analysis of more than 27,929 wireless test calls, texts and data transmissions conducted during the month of November.

“We look at performance from a consumer’s point of view, and AT&T offered a very strong overall performance for those in Raleigh during our tests,” RootMetrics President and CEO Bill Moore said in a statement.

AT&T launched 4G LTE in Raleigh in January 2012. The company said it plans to expand its that network to cover 300 million people nationwide by year-end 2014.
