Medical device incubator Edison Nation Medical is getting some help in the form of an electronics donation from Tektronix.

The equipment will be used at Edison Nation’s Charlotte headquarters and on “Everyday Edisons,” its sister company’s PBS reality television show for inventors.

Edison Nation Medical is a collaboration between Carolinas HealthCare System and Edison Nation, a product developer and online social community for inventors, created to stimulate innovations in health care delivery and improvements in patient care. Edison Nation provides a clear pathway for anyone—doctors, nurses, technicians, entrepreneurs, patients, caregivers—to submit a medical product idea for in-depth analysis and potential commercialization by expert medical, product development and licensing experts. The company splits royalty profits with any successful inventor.

Among the inventions supported by Edison Nation are GoGowns, a disposable hospital gown designed to help protect patients and hospital staff from infections.

Oregon-based Tektronix is a leading manufacturer of oscilloscopes, which are electronic test instruments that measure electrical signal changes. These devices are important tools for developing electronic products ranging from satellites to smartphones. Edison Nation Medical will use the oscilloscopes in its product development lab as engineers develop a variety of new inventions.

“Tektronix’s generous equipment donation goes a long way to supporting the growth of our new production lab and our capacity to help bring inventions of all kinds to life,” Edison Nation Head of Product Development Tom said in a statement.
