The Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster has added architectural and design services firm O’Brien/Atkins Associates PA as a professional services member.

The Research Triangle Cleantech Cluster, or RTCC, is an initiative that brings together business, government, academia and nonprofits to accelerate the region’s cleantech economy. O’Brien/Atkins specializes in designing corporate technology and advanced manufacturing campuses, including offices, labs, high-tech/sci-tech facilities, as well as higher education and large public projects. The firm has designed campus master plans and buildings of many of the region’s corporate players including Biogen Idec, Cisco Systems, Eisai Pharmaceuticals and GlaxoSmithKline.

O’Brien/Atkins has done extensive work in sustainable design. Nearly all of its architects and engineers are LEED accredited professionals and many of its buildings are recognized with all levels of LEED certification.

“O’Brien/Atkins and its chairman and CEO John Atkins have been at the forefront of every major economic development initiative in this region for more than 25 years,” Lee Anne Nance, RTCC managing director and executive vice president said in a statement. “The cleantech cluster will benefit enormously from the company’s deep understanding of what it takes for a region to compete globally for jobs and investment as well as its expertise in design and sustainable development.”
