ChannelAdvisor (NYSE: ECOM) has added another marquee partner to its marketplace services resume.

The Morrisville-based ecommerce services firm is working with a growing number of large retailers to create online marketplaces in which other companies can list – and sell – their inventories. The latest addition is Best Buy.

Best Buy and ChannelAdvisor announced the news on Thursday, but they didn’t disclose any financial details.

ChannelAdvisor, which went public earlier this year, now has more than 10 major partners – including overseas clients – for its marketplaces, which enable third parties to make their products available through real-time inventory links to the bigger company sites.

Other marketplace members include:

  • Amazon
  • eBay
  • Newegg
  • Sears
  • One Stop Plus
  • Rakuten.com Shopping
  • Play. com in the U.K.
  • Tesco
  • Trade Me in New Zealand

“Adding more marketplaces to our platform, gives our customers access to new sources of demand and more opportunities,” Sarah O’Dea, corporate communications manager for ChannelAdvisor, told WRALTechWire. “Once they integrate with ChannelAdvisor, they can expand to these numerous marketplaces with ease and increase online visibility.”

While Best Buy, Amazon and others have their own large inventories, by linking to third parties they can add even more products. Or, in some cases, the third party may have products the large sites may not.

“Best Buy benefits by being able to offer a broader selection of products online, much like Amazon benefits from offering a wide variety of products,” O’Dea explained. “Sellers benefit from the Best Buy name/brand that consumers identify with and trust. Sellers are able to tap into a new and loyal Best Buy consumer base.

“Best Buy is now a partner of ChannelAdvisor, meaning that we support the Best Buy marketplace by helping online sellers list inventory and process orders on the marketplace.”

Best Buy Vice President Ray Stacey said the company selected ”ChannelAdvisor as part of our efforts to improve the customer experience.“ChannelAdvisor’s platform will help us bring new vendors to the marketplace more quickly – which means a better shopping experience, including a larger selection and competitive prices, to consumers.”

ChannelAdvisor sees mutual benefits to third parties since membership enables them to expand their reach.

“Our customers are always looking for new sources of demand, and our partnership with Best Buy further differentiates our platform and offers our customers access to more than one billion consumers on BestBuy.com,” said ChannelAdvisor President David Spitz. “It’s our job to help retailers grow their businesses, and teaming up with Best Buy provides ChannelAdvisor customers yet another way to grow sales through our growing network of consumer demand.”
